Hi, I'm Dana.
I am a licensed clinical professional counselor. I received my Bachelors and Master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I treat array of issues, including depression, eating disorders, body image struggles, anxiety, relationship troubles, trauma, and mood disorders. I love seeing people across the age spectrum, from high school students, to young adults, to middle aged and beyond. All ages are welcome here.
When I work with clients, I utilize a person-centered, strength-based, CBT, Mindfulness and direct approach to therapy. I consider the importance of all aspects of one’s identity and how that plays a role in the therapeutic relationship. I provide a safe space to vent, while also challenging clients' irrational thoughts. I also implement Health at Every Size principle in my therapy- meaning I honor bodies of all shapes and sizes who struggle with body image an/or disordered eating. Additionally, I believe that the “deeper level work” typical involves identifying and processing systemic social justice aspects of our relationships with food and our bodies.
No one said life is easy! My job is to equip you with tools to overcome the most difficult mental barriers and empower you to make positive changes in your life. Whatever you may be dealing with, let’s explore it together and find a sustainable solution. It’s not too late to make positive changes and take control of your life.
Important things for you to know: I am a big fan of coffee, messy hair buns, country music and being outdoors. I have a black lab named Boomer (who is also happy to make an appearance during our sessions) I have a daughter and son, the hardest and absolute best parts of my life. Fall is my FAVORITE season and love everything pumpkin.
Let’s connect and get the support and therapy you deserve.
As always, Be kind to your mind, be kind to your body.
