YOUTH SPORTS
Kids learn so much through sports, such as skills and positive attitudes they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. Enriching their personal development is the goal of the YMCA Youth Sports Series - a unique, co-ed sports program that combines the YMCA's philosophy of fair play, teamwork, and inclusiveness with skill development.
Youth Basketball Leagues - Fall & Spring
Players will be placed on teams and compete against other teams in the league. Players will learn the fundamentals of basketball with an emphasis put on teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship. This is a great opportunity for young players to play in a fun and competitive environment and build a solid foundation of the game!
Fall Youth Basketball dates are currently in session and registration is closed. Please see below for details on registering for the Spring session
SPRING Dates: February 22 - April 19 (no practice or games over Spring Break Mar 13-22)
Ages: Kindergarten - 8th Grade
Location: Stephens Family YMCA Gymnasiums
Cost: $80/member; $135/guest member
K - 4th Grade: K - 4th grade players will be placed on teams by the Sports Director. Teams will have a 20 minute practice followed by a 40 minute game each week.
5th - 8th Grade: 5th - 8th grade players will have a mandatory skills assessment. Players will be evaluated during the skills assessment and assigned to teams. Assessment dates are as follows:
- 4th - 6th Grade Girls: Feb 12, 4:30-5:30pm
- Makeup date: Feb 13 at 5:00pm
- 5th - 6th Grade Boys: Feb 12, 6-7:30pm
- Makeup date: Feb 13 at 5:45pm
- 7th - 8th Grade Co-Ed: Feb 10, 5:30-7:00pm
- Makeup date: Feb 11 at 5:30pm
Games in the 5th - 8th grade league are competitive with scorekeeping, registered IHSA officials, and an end-of-season tournament to crown a champion!

2Ball Tournament
Two person teams compete to score the most points by alternating in the act of shooting basketballs from their choice of six designated spots on the court for 60 seconds.
Date: December 15th
Time:
1:30 PM – 7-8 year old girls, 9-10 year old girls,11-12 year old girls, and 13-14 year old girls
2:00 PM – 7-8 year old boys and 9-10 year old boys
2:30 PM – 11-12 year old boys and 13-14 year old girls
Location: Stephens Family YMCA Main Gym and Multi-Purpose Gym

Practice/Games are 1 hour long each Saturday. Rosters and schedules will be released January 3rd.

Sports for All
Participants can have fun in a non-competitive way, and have support in learning new skills. This is an inclusive program, meaning it is designed to include participants of all ability levels both with and without disabilities. This is a great class for someone who wants to learn more about the sport, or is a first-time player!

Itty Bitty Sports
It’s never too early to introduce sports to your child’s life. In the Itty Bitty program, parents work with YMCA staff to teach their children the skills and game of football, basketball, and soccer, with a focus on basic fundamentals. Parent involvement is required.

Youth Karate Class
Learn self-confidence, self- discipline, self-control, and self-defense skills in this exciting class taught by our experienced karate instructor! No experience necessary and uniforms not required.

SPRING Flag Football League
Players will learn the basic rules of football as well as the skills of passing, catching, running and basic plays in their practices and then get to work on their skills in the game. This is a non-contact sport with emphasis on teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship.
Spring Dates: April 21 - May 31
Age: Kindergarten - 8th Grade
K - 5th Grade:
20 minute practice, followed by a 40 minute game each Saturday.
6th - 8th Grade:
Mandatory Skills Assessment | April 16 - 5:00-6:30pm - Makeup Skills Assessment - April 17 at 5:30pm
One-hour mid-week practice each week and games on Saturdays. Games in the 6th-8th grade league are competitive with scorekeeping.

7th - 8th Grade Volleyball Clinic
Register your child for our 7th-8th grade volleyball clinic at the Stephens Family YMCA! The clinic runs for 4 Sundays in November and is run by Mahomet volleyball coach, Stan Bergman. Our clinic is a great opportunity for players to improve their skills in a fun and supportive environment!

Summer High School Basketball League
Get your team together and join our High School Basketball League at the Stephens Family YMCA! This is a competitive, coed league with registered officials. Each session will have 5 regular season games and an end-of-season tournament to crown a champion!
The Summer High School League will return in June 2025!
